VM hosting, S3 and backup
Virtual machines on Proxmox VE, S3-compatible object storage and backups with Proxmox Backup Server – operated in our own data centres in Germany and self-managed through our customer portal.
Proxmox VM hosting
We run virtual machines (QEMU/KVM) and containers (LXC) on Proxmox VE clusters in our data centres NTT FRA1 in Frankfurt am Main and MyLOC DUS3 in Düsseldorf. Ordering and management take place in the customer portal:
- Automatic provisioning: template, network, IP addresses and DNS records are set up when you order.
- CPU, memory and disk can be adjusted; the price is shown before you order.
- A browser-based console (noVNC) reaches your machine even when its network no longer responds.
- You can upload and install your own ISO images.
- Power on, power off, shut down and reboot directly in the portal.
- IPv4 and IPv6 from AS48200, reverse DNS (PTR) via self-service.
S3 object storage
Our S3-compatible object storage is based on Ceph (RADOS Gateway) and currently runs in the NTT FRA1 data centre in Frankfurt am Main; a second site at MyLOC in Düsseldorf is being built. You can use it with any S3 client – for backups, media, static content or as a target for your own applications.
- Capacity in steps of 100 GB, expandable at any time.
- Tiered pricing: as your volume grows, the price per 100 GB falls for the entire amount.
- In the portal you can see usage and buckets, generate access keys and manage files directly in the browser.
Proxmox backup service
We provide datastores on our Proxmox Backup Servers. Your own Proxmox VE backs up to them directly – incrementally and deduplicated, as Proxmox Backup Server is designed to do.
- Location of your choice: Frankfurt am Main (NTT FRA1) or Nuremberg (Hetzner); Düsseldorf (MyLOC DUS3) will follow shortly.
- On request we replicate your backups to further locations – so that a copy is kept geographically separate from the original.
- We also back up the VMs you run with us.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored?
Exclusively in our data centres in Germany: VMs in Frankfurt am Main and Düsseldorf, S3 in Frankfurt am Main, backups in Frankfurt am Main or Nuremberg. Your contractual partner is Opteamax Infrastructure GmbH, based in Rheinbreitbach.
Do I need my own Proxmox VE for the backup service?
Only if you want to back up your own systems: in that case the service is the storage target for your Proxmox VE or the Proxmox backup client. VMs you run with us are backed up even without your own Proxmox VE.
Can I keep my backups at several locations?
Yes, on request we replicate your backups to further locations.
Can I bring my own network into the VMs?
Yes. We extend your own VLANs into the VMs, and you can announce your own prefixes via BGP from your VMs.
