What started as a sideline in 2001 has grown into a network operator with its own autonomous system.

Company history

Today’s Opteamax GmbH was founded in 2001 as a sole proprietorship under the name “Opteamax – Jens Ott Dienstleistungen”. At that time the services were provided purely as a sideline.

With the conversion into “Opteamax UG (haftungsbeschränkt)” in 2009, founder Jens Ott took up what is his main occupation today.

In 2012 the share capital was increased and the company was renamed to its present name.

Having initially offered classic hosting only, we extended the portfolio with consulting services in 2009. At around the same time we laid the foundation for our IP transit services, at first exclusively at the Nuremberg location. As demand grew, this network was steadily expanded by connecting to various Internet exchange points and adding further locations.

In 2015 all business areas except consulting were transferred to Opteamax Infrastructure GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Opteamax GmbH.
